Licensing & Insurance
Transparency You Can Trust When Shipping Your Vehicle
When choosing an auto transport company, licensing and insurance matter. At MovAuto LLC, we believe customers deserve clear, honest information about how vehicle transport works, who is responsible for your shipment, and how your vehicle is protected.
This page explains our role, our credentials, and the insurance coverage involved in professional auto transport.
Is MovAuto Licensed?
Yes. MovAuto LLC is a fully licensed auto transport brokerage, authorized to arrange vehicle transportation nationwide.
We operate in compliance with federal regulations governed by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA).
Our credentials include:
USDOT Number: 4494436
MC Number: 1777121
These registrations confirm that MovAuto is legally authorized to operate as an auto transport broker across all 50 states.
What Does an Auto Transport Broker Do?
An auto transport broker acts as the coordinator between customers and professional vehicle carriers.
As a broker, MovAuto:
Matches your shipment with licensed, insured carriers
Verifies carrier credentials and insurance
Coordinates scheduling and logistics
Acts as your single point of contact
Assists with communication from pickup to delivery
This allows you to avoid calling multiple carriers and ensures your shipment is handled professionally and efficiently.
Are the Carriers Licensed?
Yes. Every carrier we work with must:
Be registered with the FMCSA
Carry active USDOT and MC numbers
Meet federal safety requirements
Maintain valid cargo insurance
We verify carrier credentials before dispatching any shipment.
Is My Vehicle Insured During Transport?
Yes. Your vehicle is protected by the carrier’s cargo insurance while in transit.
Most carrier cargo insurance policies range from $100,000 to $250,000, with higher limits available for enclosed and specialty transport.
Before your shipment is dispatched:
Carrier insurance coverage is confirmed
Coverage limits are verified
Insurance applies from pickup to delivery
Contingent Cargo Insurance
In addition to carrier cargo insurance, MovAuto LLC maintains Contingent Cargo Insurance.
Contingent Cargo Insurance provides an additional layer of protection in the unlikely event that a carrier’s cargo insurance is unavailable or insufficient to respond to a covered claim. While claims are handled primarily through the carrier’s policy, contingent coverage exists as a backup safeguard.
This added coverage reflects our commitment to responsible brokerage practices and providing peace of mind to our clients.
Contingent Cargo Insurance is not a replacement for carrier cargo insurance, but an added layer of protection when applicable.
How Is Vehicle Condition Documented?
Vehicle condition is documented using a Bill of Lading (BOL) at both pickup and delivery.
The Bill of Lading serves as:
A condition report
A receipt for transport
A legal shipping document
This ensures transparency and protection for all parties involved.
What Happens If There Is Damage?
While damage during transport is rare, the process is straightforward if it occurs:
The condition is noted on the Bill of Lading at delivery
The carrier’s insurance is used to address the claim
Your broker assists with next steps and communication
MovAuto remains available to help guide you through the process if needed.
Broker Bonding & Compliance
As required by federal law, MovAuto maintains an active broker bond (BMC-84). This bond exists to protect customers and carriers and ensure compliance with FMCSA regulations.
Maintaining proper bonding is part of operating a legitimate, compliant brokerage.
Why Licensing & Insurance Matter
Working with properly licensed and insured professionals:
Protects your vehicle
Reduces risk and delays
Ensures accountability
Confirms legal compliance
Unlicensed operators and lead-selling websites often lack transparency and accountability.
